Turkish economy minister meets CEOs of Chinese firms (A.A World-11 April 2012)

Turkey's economy minister met CEOs of Chinese companies over breakfast in Shanghai on Wednesday

During the meeting, Zafer Caglayan said Turkey and China were two fastest growing economies in the world, and Turkey broke an export record in 2011.

"China is the number one country in contracting services with 54 companies among 325 contracting companies in the world, and Turkey is the second with 31 companies," he said.

Caglayan said countries could make half of their exports to European Union (EU) member states without customs duties with investments they would make in Turkey.

"In this sense, I cannot understand why Chinese investors do not invest in Turkey," Caglayan said.

Caglayan called on Chinese CEOs to review their decisions about Turkey and take action.
The minister defined Turkey as an ideal investment place thanks to its banking and legal systems.
